Skip the Procurement Headache: Georgia Public Entities Can Hire Big Fish Directly Through GTA

If you run IT for a Georgia city, county, school board, college, or state agency, you already know the drill. You need help with your network, your phones, or your cabling, and the first wall you hit isn’t technical. It’s procurement. RFPs, bid cycles, committee reviews, months of waiting. By the time you’re allowed to hire someone, the problem you were trying to fix has gotten worse.

There’s a faster way, and Big Fish Technology is part of it.

We’re a GTA-approved provider

Back on October 26, 2020, Big Fish Technology became an approved service provider through the Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) under the GTA Direct IT services program. Our contract number is 98000-GTADirect-CONTRACT-4666-BIG, and it’s current — we signed our most recent amendment in May 2026. This isn’t a one-time thing we did years ago and forgot about. It’s an active relationship we keep current on purpose. We announced it back when it first happened — you can read our original press release here.

Here’s why that matters to you.

The Georgia Technology Authority is the state agency that manages IT infrastructure for Georgia’s executive branch and provides managed network services to roughly 1,200 state and local government entities. One of the things GTA does is vet IT providers, put them under standardized, government-tailored contracts, and then let public entities buy from those providers directly. GTA handles the qualifying and the light governance. You skip the procurement marathon.

GTA Direct is open to a lot more than just state agencies. It covers Georgia agencies, local governments, colleges and universities, and boards of education statewide. So whether you’re a city clerk’s office, a county department, a school district, or a campus, this path is available to you.

What it actually does for you

The short version: GTA already did the hard part of vetting us so you don’t have to run a full procurement.

  • You skip the long bid cycle. Because we’re already an approved provider, you can buy our contracted services directly instead of building an RFP from scratch.
  • You get the state’s purchasing power. The contract is built for government, with terms already negotiated.
  • You get a contract that fits how government works. Standardized governance, clear payment terms, the paperwork already in place.

On our end, getting started is a single form. You fill out the GTA Direct order package, we generate a monthly invoice, and it’s due within 30 calendar days. Need to change your quantities later? Same form, check the “change” box, fill in the new numbers. That’s it. The same simple process gets you new service or adjusts what you’ve already got.

The three services we’re contracted to provide

Under the GTA contract, Big Fish is authorized to deliver three things we’ve been doing well since 2002:

Managed Wi-Fi and Networking. That intimidating IT closet full of blinking lights and tangled cable? That’s our playground. We manage everything from a single wireless access point to a full network stack. We lean toward Cisco Meraki and UniFi, but we’ll evaluate and manage just about any system you’ve got.

Unified Communications and VoIP. The old phone system that cost a fortune to buy and a fortune every month to keep running — you don’t need it anymore. Modern VoIP rides on your internet connection, no extra phone lines or SIP trunks, and it brings call queues, voicemail-to-email, video, instant messaging, and the ability to work from anywhere. We install it, we support it, and we run it ourselves at Big Fish.

Inside Cable and Low-Voltage Wiring. The cabling in your walls is the physical layer everything else depends on. We’ve been running, repairing, and maintaining it since day one. One data jack or two thousand, an office or a ballfield — we’ve got the skills for the job.

Why hire Big Fish

We’ve been doing this for over twenty years. Our average client has been with us for six years or more, and that doesn’t happen by accident. We believe long-term relationships beat short-term gains, and we’ve built the whole company around that.

Public entities deserve a technology partner they can actually trust — people who understand the work, understand the people they serve, and pick up the phone when something breaks. That’s who we are. We’d love the chance to prove it to a Georgia agency, city, school, or campus.
